The Johnson Family Singers

About The Johnson Family Singers

North Carolina's Johnson Family Singers were among the biggest gospel stars of radio's golden era. A fixture on the CBS network throughout the 1940s and 1950s, the group -- the Johnson parents and their four children -- regularly broadcast 15-minute programs on Sunday mornings; among their many recordings were "Dig a Little Deeper," "Farther Along," "Death of Ellenton" and "Keep on the Sunny Side." One of the children, Betty Johnson, later enjoyed a successful solo career. ~ Jason Ankeny
