Roger Knox

About Roger Knox

An Australian country singer known as the Black Elvis and the Koori King of Country, Roger Knox was born in Moree, Australia as part of the Gamilaroi group and grew up in the Toomelah Aboriginal Mission near Boggabilla. Immensely popular and beloved as an entertainer in his homeland and New Zealand, Knox has released several albums in his career, including 1983's Give It a Go, 1986's The Gospel Album, 1998's Warrior in Chains: The Best of Roger Knox (all three of these on Enrec Records), 2004's Goin' On, Still Strong (on Trailblazer Records), and 2013's Stranger in My Land (released by Bloodshot Records and featuring Chicago's the Pine Valley Cosmonauts as a backing band). ~ Steve Leggett
