About Paint Branch
Years after the dissolution of their post-hardcore indie band Q and Not U, Washington, D.C. mainstays Chris Richards and John Davis regrouped in 2010 and began work on new songs under the name Paint Branch. Richards had been working solo under the moniker Ris-Paul-Ric, and Davis had been playing in the short-lived power pop group Georgie James and after they split, started the group Title Tracks. Unlike the dancey sass of their early-oughts group together, or the more spirited various projects they worked on individually afterwards, Paint Branch focused more on subdued and thoughtful approach, evoking the velvety sound of mellow '70s singer/songwriters. The duo worked on songs for two years before recording their debut album I Wanna Live, which was released in early 2013. The duo followed up with a self-titled EP in mid-2015. ~ Fred Thomas
