About Laurent Campellone

Conductor and arts administrator Laurent Campellone specializes in little-known French operatic repertory, both in performance and on recordings. He has made the first recordings of several operas by Massenet. At age 23, Campellone was appointed assistant to the musical director of the Toulon Opera House while continuing until 2000 to study with Christoph Eschenbach. In 2013, he made his recording debut, leading the Choeur et Orchestre Symphonique Saint-Étienne Loire in a performance of Massenet's opera Le Mage. He followed that up in 2014 with a recording of Saint-Saëns' little-known Les Barbares. In 2019, Campellone backed soprano Jodie Devos on the album Offenbach Colorature. In 2023, Campellone returned to the recording studio, leading the Münchener Rundfunkorchester in the world premiere recording of Massenet's Ariane.
