About Kensington Prairie

Kensington Prairie is the solo project of singer/songwriter Rebecca Rowan, who previously launched the Vancouver-based indie pop act Maplewood Lane in 1999. While fronting that band, Rowan embraced folk-inspired songwriting before adopting an electric, poppier style. She returned to the earthy, intimate sounds of contemporary folk by launching Kensington Prairie in 2005, although Rowan's vocals and melodic turns push her solo material closer to the pop/rock camp. Supported by piano, vibraphone, guitar, cello, and the tasteful production of Jon Anderson (from the Canadian band Jonathan Inc.), Rowan made her solo debut in 2008 with Kensington Prairie's Captured in Still Life. ~ Andrew Leahey
