About Gadget

Employing a lethal blend of grindcore, punk, death, black, doom, and sludge metal, Sweden's Gadget has roots that trace back to the late 1990s. Originally conceived as the instrument-switching alter-ego of a more traditional metalcore unit called Abegail, the band was founded by William Blackmon, who alongside Rikard Olsson, recorded the first Gadget demo as a duo. Emil Englund soon joined up, and another demo was laid down and caught the attention of Relapse Records, who quickly signed the group and released their debut album, Remote, in 2004. The LP also introduced newest Gadget member Fredrik Nygren. 2006 saw the release of the quartet's sophomore long player, The Funeral March. In early 2016, after a ten-year hiatus, the band returned with their third LP, The Great Destroyer. ~ James Christopher Monger
