Suming Essentials

Suming Rupi turns contemporary notions of pop and hip-hop on their heads, layering the rich sounds of Taiwan's indigenous Pangcah culture with distinctly modern elements of Auto-Tune and synths. Rupi, who often performs in traditional dress, launched into music as a singer/songwriter for Totem in 2002. He gained national attention for rapping in the Pangcah's Amis dialect and eventually branched out into a solo career, continuing his mission of introducing his heritage to younger listeners through the mediums of J-pop and K-pop.
