About Aaron Larget-Caplan

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a child my mother took me to Denver Symphony, now Colorado, performing of Bizet's Carmen. She had to hold my legs down as I wouldn't stop tapping loudly to the music. Many apologies to the neighbors. For music and I, it was love at first hearing. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bach: Suites For Violoncello Solo / Anner Bylsma John Cage: Cheap Imitation Sabicas, Sabicas "Essential" These artists have an authenticity in their playing eliciting great emotions. Both Cage and Sabicas were composers and performers, so hearing their renditions has a particular energy I find inspiring. Bylsma is ever changing, exciting, and present. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “In a Landscape (Arr. A. Larget-Caplan for Guitar)” In a Landscape is so simple and yet so complex; it is hypnotic yet moving; sweet yet full of depth. It is one of my favorite works by Cage for all of the above. Often just one note after another but the resonance makes it an emotional adventure. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Performing in Russia and receiving multiple encores. Complex music and I felt audience as if they were magnets following my hands over the fret board. It was exhilarating and it was an honor to return 4 times in 4 years. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? So many! There are halls I look forward to playing in, music to record, people to collaborate with, notes to be written, concerts to present, and joys to share.
