Alongside fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne and American counterparts Good Charlotte, Montréal's Simple Plan were key players in adapting '90s pop-punk style to a 21st-century Top 40 landscape. After breaking out internationally with their cheeky 2002 teen-angst ode “I'm Just a Kid”, Simple Plan emerged as the missing link between Bad Religion (whose “American Jesus” they covered in their early days) and pop producer Max Martin (who helped the band make their self-titled 2009 release). They've also welcomed collaborations with everyone from Warped Tour heroes like Mark Hoppus and Rivers Cuomo to contemporary hitmakers like Natasha Bedingfield and K'naan.
