Focussed around the energy of outlandish frontman Tul Waitoonkiat, Apartmentkhunpa have quickly risen through indie ranks to become one of Thai rock's most creative forces, injecting rebellion and visceral urgency back into the genre with a refreshing swagger. The jagged, dual guitar attack, frenetic stop-start tempos and propulsive choruses of the Thai quintet hark back to the alt-rock glory days of the Pixies or The Strokes. But they're no pastiche; Apartmentkhunpa's sound crosses boundaries to envelop elements of blues, soul and even an occasional hip-hop breakdown.
