Influenced by Brazilian pop idols like Chico Buarque as well as international female singers like Alanis Morissette, Ana Carolina began her musical career on the bar circuit. She released her self-titled debut in 1999, which included sunny covers of well-known Brazilian tracks as well as originals tinted with jittering jazz chords. Known for her distinctive contralto voice, Carolina ranges across MPB, bossa nova, samba and rock. Her 2004 collaboration with Seu Jorge gave birth to the huge hit "É Isso Aí", a Portuguese version of Damien Rice's "The Blower's Daughter".
