Las Vegas post-hardcore heroes Escape the Fate have an element of danger about them; their dark songs stood out even in the fertile ‘00s emo scene. “My Apocalypse” takes a pessimistic view of the future over traditionally screamo pig squeals and rhythmic pick slides. A change in vocalist brought 2010's transition into hard rock (“Issues”); the band started to abandon their emo roots and solidify their heavy bona fides with songs like “You're Insane”, where melodic and throat-bleeding vocals trade the spotlight over driving bass.
