Shanguy are known for their genre-bending brand of dance-oriented pop that combines European folk traditions with reggae, hip-hop, and electronic influences. The group debuted with 2017's number one hit "La Louze," and remained chart favorites with tracks like 2018's "King of the Jungle " and 2019's "Désolée (Paris/Paname)."
Formed in 2017 in France, Shanguy initially featured Italian DJ NRD1, Italian indie singer/songwriter FRANK-O, and French singer/songwriter Eon Melka. Prior to his time in Shanguy, NRD1 was known for his remixes and his original collaborations with Luca G, Dr. Space, and others. Similarly, Melka and FRANK-O had released their own songs. After joining forces, the trio topped the charts in several countries with their platinum 2017 debut single "La Louze." A second track, "King of the Jungle," followed in 2018, after which Melka left the band. He was replaced by vocalist Shady Cherkaoui (aka Shady). Born in Milan to Moroccan immigrant parents, Cherkaoui grew up singing and playing guitar with her father. In 2016, she auditioned for the Italian-version of The X Factor but did not make it past the boot camp round. However, she gained wider visibility competing on the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi. Following her time on television, she studied audio production at SAE Institute Milan. In 2018, she made her official debut with Shanguy with the song "Toukassé," followed in 2019 by another stand-alone track, "Désolée (Paris/Paname)." ~ Matt Collar
