The Chicks, formerly known as Dixie Chicks, have done it all: back-porch bluegrass, panoramic pop, boot-stomping country rock—you name it. With their luminous three-part vocal harmonies and sharp-shooting fiddle and dobro licks, Martie Maguire, Emily Robison and Natalie Maines arose as a force majeure in Nashville and beyond in the ‘90s. In their twanging take on Fleetwood Mac's “Landslide”, as well as in sardonic country-rockers such as “Goodbye Earl” and the defiant “Not Ready to Make Nice”, they mix the sweet with the salty to make a flavour all their own.
