About Dungeon Family

Named after a makeshift basement studio in producer Rico Wade’s Atlanta home, the collective known as the Dungeon Family counted all of the major voices in Atlanta rap in the ’90s among their ranks. The group entered the public consciousness when their most visible members, Outkast, broke through mid-decade. Subsequently, Wade’s production team, Organized Noize, became increasingly in demand, partially thanks to helming every track on Outkast's and Goodie Mob’s debut albums—1994’s Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and 1995’s Soul Food, respectively. Organized Noize went on to produce chart hits for TLC, En Vogue and more. As Southern rap continued its rise at the turn of the 2000s, the Dungeon Family in 2001 were able to record their inventive, posse-cut-filled debut, Even in Darkness. The studio moved locations but continued to be a revolving door for rising Atlanta talent into the 2010s, with Killer Mike and Future joining the Family's extended crew of associates.
