Formed in 2013, Toronto quintet Darlene Shrugg fuse brash blown-out indie rock with elements of art-pop, electro-pop, and glam rock. A confluence of some of the city's indie elite, the band brings together Maximilian Turnbull (Slim Twig), Meg Remy (U.S. Girls), Simone TB (Slim Twig, Fake Palms), Carlyn Bezic (Ice Cream), and Amanda Crist (Ice Cream). Featuring multiple singers and a collaborative arrangement style, they entered the studio with producer Steve Chahley to record their eponymous debut which was released in October 2017 by U.K. indie Upset the Rhythm. ~ Timothy Monger
