An earnest, wide vibrato, playful harmonica and affable wit set Pongsit Kampee apart from his contemporaries with his debut on the Thai music scene in the late '80s with the album Thueng Phuean. But it was the release of Sua Tua Thee 11 in 1990 that catapulted Kampee to the higher echelons of Thailand's Phleng Pheua Chiwit genre. Subsequent hits, such as "Thai Thoe Khuen Ma" and "Ma Tam Sanya", soon established the man's status as one of Thailand's most beloved folk crooners.
