About '68 Comeback
Monsieur Jeffrey Evans had already been a cult hero in his native Ohio with the psychobilly outfit the Gibson Bros. But after disbanding that group, he formed the much more overtly rock-&-roll-focused ’68 Comeback. Between 1994 and 1999, Evans and his bandmates released a slew of singles and three full-length LPs (the second of which, A BRIDGE TOO F**KIN’ FAR, was dedicated to their late guitarist, Jack Taylor). The albums generally mixed together covers of rock and R&B standards by the likes of Bo Diddley, Johnny Cash, and Howlin’ Wolf, along with occasional originals that stick close to the formula. Evans still tours as both a solo artist and with a revolving Comeback lineup.
