Having first met on a movie set, Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward hit it off to the point where they decided to pool their talents and make music together. Calling themselves She & Him, 2008's debut album—simply titled Volume One—charmed listeners with a combination of Deschanel's previously hidden singing talent and Ward's love of breezy radio-friendly grooves. The duo's sun-bathed pop sound struck crossover success—a move that was rewarded with a major label deal for 2014's Classics album.
