About The Tams
The Tams formed in 1960, and in '62 scored their first Top 20 R&B hit, "Untie Me." For the next six years, the Atlanta-based vocal group made their presence known in the charts with a string a soulful hits, but were unceremoniously dropped by their label in '68. Three years later, their single "Hey Girl Don't Bother Me" was an unexpected hit in the U.K. The group persevered through the '80s, '90s, and beyond, playing oldies shows and backing musicians like Jimmy Buffett. They also had a brief retro-hit when an old song of theirs appeared in the '89 film THE SHAG.
