"Le Gratie d'Amore" is the most important work by Negri who was a dance master in Milan. It is an excellent resource for information concerning his contemporaries, students, productions, rules for choreography including step combinations and directions for approximately forty different dances. Negri included information regarding instrumentation as well as staging. Descriptively Negri also discussed the techniques for men to dance the galliard with variations, and, the number of steps required in a particular amount of time and mensuration. He even addressed dances for two couples not found anywhere else during this time frame. The music for the dances which combines a number of musical segments in various sequences provides a great deal of information about methods of performance. ~ Keith Johnson
