Wolf Alice Essentials

North London's Wolf Alice draw their angst-ridden hooks from classic '90s alt-rock, letting them cool off in gentle waves of distortion and electronics. This brooding mix of sass, sensuality, and shoegaze was fully formed by their 2015 debut album, which features the swirling, dream-pop-laced anthem "Bros" alongside dark, grungy ragers like "Moaning Lisa Smile." By 2017's Visions of a Life, the band went further in both extremes: Frontwoman Ellie Rowsell is an ethereal siren on sweeping synth-pop reverie "Don't Delete the Kisses" and turns mercurial punk on brash kiss-off "Yuk Foo."
