Teenage Fanclub Essentials

Teenage Fanclub Essentials

When Teenage Fanclub debuted with 1990's A Catholic Education, they sounded not unlike Scotland's answer to the developing grunge scene. But by the time of 1991's major-label debut Bandwagonesque, it was clear that songwriters Norman Blake, Gerard Love and Raymond McGinley owed more to Big Star and The Byrds than to Mudhoney. Indie cult heroes, the group released a long string of jangly guitar-pop albums featuring bittersweet lyrics delivered in angelic harmonies, including Grand Prix and Songs from Northern Britain.
