Peter Brötzmann Essentials

German saxophonist Peter Brötzmann is one of the most uncompromising, influential figures in post-war jazz. Beginning his recording career in the late ‘60s, Brötzmann took the raw passion of free jazz to a new extreme of violence and expressiveness. Through the decades, Brötzmann has recorded dozens of albums as both a bandleader and solo artist, and an equal number of classic collaborative recordings with leading lights of the global free improv scene. In addition, he lent his powerful lungs to two key bands: Last Exit with Bill Laswell and the Albert Ayler-honouring Die Like a Dog Quartet.
