The Charlie Parker Quintet's “Passport” chronicles the young lion's sharp, swift lyricism taking flight, while the Max Roach Quintet's “Ezz-Thetic” captures his playing at its most strident. Dorham's color-saturated melodicism also woozily dances in and out of Oliver Nelson's bluesy walk “Jams and Jellies.”
