Inspired by Big Star

Though criminally ignored in their day by critics and audiences, '70s power-pop pioneers Big Star had a huge influence on rock. Combining the sunny hooks of '60s pop with deceptively smart lyrics that were often witty and dark, they inspired almost every power-pop band that followed, from Cheap Trick to Fountains of Wayne, as well as bands like The Replacements and R.E.M.
