Though Hüsker Dü's greatest songs resulted from a collision of noise and melody, they could veer to either extreme: While “Indecision Time” is a pulverizing display of their hardcore roots, “Hate Paper Doll” is a joyous sing-along coated in cotton-candy fuzz. The swooning pop of “It's Not Peculiar,” meanwhile, suggests an alternate universe where Hüsker Dü didn't break up and got bigger than R.E.M.
