High school buddies-turned-rock duo GLIM SPANKY—comprising Remi Matsuo and Hiroki Kamemoto—prove that the more the merrier doesn’t always ring true in rock’n’roll. A spot in the finals of Japan’s teen rock festival Senko Riot propelled them into the limelight, as did their raucous pop-punk sound which quickly matured to match Matsuo’s vocals. Veering from clear lines to hoarse exclamations and her bluesy, soulful drawl, they drive the duo forward—backed by guitars that they’re unafraid to make growling and vicious when needed.
