Gavin DeGraw made himself known during the early-2000s singer/songwriter boom with the nonconformity anthem “I Don’t Want to Be,” a showcase for his distinctive style and rugged voice that became a smash in 2004. Ever since, the New York-born, Berklee-trained DeGraw has expanded his songwriting palette, leaning into piano-driven soul-pop on the anthemic yet lovelorn “Not Over You,” lending his voice to sun-dappled EDM-pop on the festival-ready “She Sets the City On Fire,” and stripping down his sound to just his voice and a piano on the impassioned “Dancing Shoes.”
