Esperanza Spalding Essentials

Jazz might not have a more impressive young artist than Esperanza Spalding. In her relatively short career, Spalding has blown away audiences with her musicianship on the bass as well as her impeccable vocals. After releasing Junjo in 2006, she soon became an in-demand sidewoman for legendary artists like Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter—and found many new mentors in the process. After hitting the Billboard charts in 2008 with Esperanza, she went on to become the first jazz artist to win a GRAMMY® for Best New Artist with 2011's Chamber Music Society.
