Caetano Veloso Essentials

Caetano Veloso Essentials

Best known as the co-founder of the controversial artistic/political movement Tropicalismo during the turbulent late '60s, Caetano Veloso is one of Brazil's most eclectic and electrifying artists. Bahian by birth, Veloso arrived in Rio de Janeiro during the city's cosmopolitan artistic flowering, and helped shift Brazilian popular music from jazzy bossa nova to psychedelic rock-influenced Tropicália. Forced into exile by the dawn of the '70s, he maintained his exploratory, experimental edge. By the '80s, he had become one of Brazil's most beloved musical artists, at home and abroad.
