After nearly five decades of creating the archetypal Israeli song by traditional means, local musicians and immigrants began to wander creatively toward new musical horizons. The challenging task quickly grew in popularity, as local musicians incorporated influences like Italian pop and Greek folk to craft catchy new sounds and ushered in stars such as Ofra Haza, Shlomo Artzi and Yehudit Ravitz.
