Named for a liquor store in the northeastern Los Angeles neighbourhood of Silver Lake, Silversun Pickups arrived just a moment too late to enjoy the attention of the alternative rock explosion. They combined the best elements of ‘90s rock: the shimmering, engulfing sonics of shoegaze; the rocket-flared fuzz tones of grunge; the emotional intensity of emo. On top of all that, they never fail to deliver a punchy power-pop tune. Full of lightning and coloured sparks, this playlist creates its own star shower.
