He favors a laidback flow, whether boasting about his verbal prowess on “Champion” or getting romantic on cuts like “Love.” But this cocky nonchalance gets a serious jolt when backed by classic rock riffs or heavier passages that could be straight out of a Black Sabbath catalog. It's an apt if unexpected pairing, as the KID fashions retro relics into rap that feels very much like the future.
