About Suspekt

One of Denmark's leading hip-hop and rap outfits, Suspekt came together in the mid-'90s, eventually naming themselves and working on a debut -- as well as starting a label -- in 1998. Members Rune Rask, Bai-D, and Orgi-E were spurred on to go "pro" (as it were) by Per Hjalteson, who got the trio into a studio. The label that the group formed, Tabu, was responsible for releasing the group's first album, 1999's Suspekt. After the initial pressings -- and a subsequent second run -- sold out, Suspekt hit the road, spending a good deal of 1999 touring their home nation. The tour was a success, not just in getting the message out regarding the band's talent, but also in that the group began a working relationship with producer Troo L.S., who would become a mainstay at Tabu and with Suspekt. In 2003 the group released a second album, Ingen Slukker the Stars, and once again toured Denmark. (In the time between albums two and three, Suspekt also released a DVD.) Suspekt returned to the Danish album charts in 2007 with the Top Five hit collection Prima Nocte. ~ Chris True
