About Roswell Rudd
The most distinctive trombonist of the avant-garde/free-jazz world, Roswell Rudd was a key participant in the 1960s East Coast free-jazz scene, playing with Archie Shepp, Cecil Taylor, the New York Art Quartet, and many others. In later years, Rudd became fascinated by African music, incorporating it into his work, and also became extensively involved with music education on a university level. Rudd continued to be a vital force in jazz until his death in 2017.
