About Original Naabtal Duo

Wolfgang Edenharder first came up with the idea of the das Original Naabtal Duo in the '70s. His idea was to preserve the traditional music of his beloved Bavarian area of Germany, but it took until 1985 for him to find the right partner in Willi Seitz. In 1988 the two went from their jobs as post officer (Edenharder) and salesman (Seitz) to international superstars when they won the Grand Prix der Volksmusik (Grand Prix of the People's Music) in Switzerland, beating out entries from participating countries Switzerland, Austria, and their homeland of Germany. Their success in Germany continued until 1993 when each went on to solo careers. They reunited in 2003 and in 2005 released the album Wir Sind Wieder Da which featured some songs written by their fan club president, Andreas Sedlmeier. In 2006 they had another massive German hit when they celebrated the reign of Pope Benedict XVI with the patriotic single "Unser Papst der Kommt aus Bayern" ("Our Pope Comes from Bavaria"). ~ David Jeffries
