About Louis Prince

Inspired by impressionistic film-making, the surrealistic language of Beat Generation authors, and the flowing nature of classic '50s jazz, Nashville musician Jake McMullen used the Louis Prince moniker as a new chapter in his musical development. He melded those inspirations with falsetto vocals, indie songwriting, and drifting synth lines to create the bright environments of his 2020 debut album Thirteen. Jake McMullen was born in California and eventually ended up in Nashville, making confessional Americana under his own name for a time. After feeling moved to take his music in a different direction, McMullen teamed up with producer Micah Tawlks and the two began working toward what would become the Louis Prince project. With reference points in film and piano jazz, McMullen began writing songs in 2015, collaborating with Tawlks as well as sharing new ideas with Kevin Dailey and Dabney Morris. With the support of his creative friends, McMullen shaped the dreamy, genre-defying sounds of Louis Prince, offering up debut album Thirteen in the spring of 2020. ~ Fred Thomas
