About Jerry Orbach

Before he became a television icon as the grizzled, wisecracking Detective Lennie Briscoe on LAW & ORDER, Jerry Orbach was one of the greatest voices Broadway ever knew. It was Orbach's gently soaring baritone that created the template for classics like "Try to Remember" (THE FANTASTICKS) and "Razzle Dazzle" (CHICAGO) and provided the most stirring (and perhaps the best known) rendition of "Lullaby of Broadway" (for the original stage version of 42ND STREET). His voice reached a new audience in 1991 when as an animated candelabra, he duetted with Angela Lansbury's teapot on the new standard, "Be My Guest," from BEAUTY & THE BEAST.
