General Patton

About General Patton

No, the World War II general didn't rise from the grave to go hip-hop. This General Patton is former Faith No More vocalist and Ipecac Recordings co-owner Mike Patton. Patton first worked in the arena of rap when he recorded a track for Handsome Boy Modeling School's sophomore release, White People. A few live improvisational collaborations with the turntable team the X-Ecutioners had everyone involved thinking there was more artistic work to be done. Patton gave the turntablists some of his favorite albums to build "sound blocks" from, the X-Ecutioners sent the results back, and Patton added overdubs, turning the "blocks" into lengthier pieces. The results were issued on Ipecac as General Patton vs. the X-Ecutioners in early 2005. ~ David Jeffries
