About Central Falls

Delineated by Adam Vida -- the drummer of U.S. Maple, a driving force within Chicago's underground music scene, and the band's main songwriter -- Central Falls supplies some original content in the indie rock scenario. Guitarist Ben Vida, Adam's brother, also an experienced musician and cofounder of Town & Country, supplied the initial creative potential for the disclosure of the Central Falls project. Having a considerable musical experience augmented after they moved from Minneapolis to Chicago, the Vida brothers initiated the Falls ensemble in late 1998. However, it was only in 1999 that Ben and Adam definitely united their efforts with bassist Ryan Hembrey and drummer Jason Adasiewicz, therefore finally assembling Central Falls. After the band entered the recording studio a few months later, Hembrey ultimately had to temporarily quit the band due to a tendinitis problem; it was then that Noel Kupersmith, bass player for Brokeback and the Chicago Underground Trio joined in, along with pedal steel player Steve Dorocke. Following the recording sessions for their debut album, Hembrey returned on keyboards, Andy Ulrich joined in as the bass player, and Dorocke parted ways with the band. Central Falls offered the debut album Latitude in early 2001, enjoying stimulating reviews from the local media. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges
