About Big L
Harlem rapper Big L was a potent lyrical assassin and dazzling freestyling savant whose career was cut short when he was killed at the age of 24. • As a teenager, Big L founded the group Children of the Corn alongside Cam’ron, Mase, Bloodshed, and McGruff. • After inking a deal with Columbia Records in 1992, he joined the Diggin In the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C), which included producer Lord Finesse, Diamond D, O.C., Fat Joe, Buckwild, Showbiz, and A.G.. • The wordsmith paired evocative storytelling with boom-bap beats on his 1995 debut album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous. • Following his split with Columbia Records, Big L released the 1998 single “Ebonics,” which The Source named one of the year’s top independent singles.
