About Ashton Nyte

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was about 5 years old when I first saw Elvis start the '68 Comeback Special with "Trouble." It was a re-run, as I wasn't alive in '68 but immediately wished I had been. I also instantly knew what I had to do with my life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bruce Springsteen, Nebraska David Bowie, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (2012 Remaster) Kate Bush, Hounds of Love (2018 Remaster) David Bowie made me want to be an artist, and while choosing a favorite album of his is nigh impossible, I think "Rock 'n Roll Suicide" is the greatest song ever written. Kate Bush made me want to be a magician, and "Nebraska" reminds me to be brave. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Waiting for a Voice” The song, book, and album feel like the culmination of my journey in many ways. It is my most intimate and personal work to date and a song I can sing in any setting and generally learn something new about myself each time I do so. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Hearing a few thousand people singing along to one of my songs at a festival back in the late nineties was surreal. That moment when a song becomes part of a communal celebration of life is magical. To be there when it happens is a true blessing. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I don't really have a bucket list but rather a desire to continually create, communicate, explore, and grow. I believe Art is in the doing and hope to always remain inspired and hopefully inspire others along the way.
