True to their name, most of the songs on the Minutemen's second album, What Makes a Man Start Fires?, last only a minute and change, but that's all the time that start-stopping broadsides like "Mutiny In Jonestown" need to make their point. The San Pedro punk trio were masters at packing as many ideas as possible into their music while keeping it relentlessly straightforward, and it’s that sense of focus that makes rubbery tracks like "One Chapter In the Book" hit with such economical force.
