On their third album, the L.A. trio Moonchild mine their hazy surroundings to craft a hypnotically cosmic neo-soul record laced with summery vibes. Amber Navran’s ethereal vocals sit dreamily atop Max Bryk and Andris Mattson’s chill strings, analog synths, and psychedelic chimes, while sampled birdsong and waterfall field recordings stud the horizon. “Cure” has a jazzy, Zero 7–esque groove—all breezy melodies and breathy vocals—while “6am” riffs on Erykah Badu–style funk, replete with deep, pulsing bass and caramel-smooth refrains.
