Bernart de Ventadorn Essentials

The 12th-century Frenchman Bernart de Ventadorn was, perhaps, the most famous medieval troubadour. Far from the wandering musicians people often think them to be, troubadours were noble poet-composers employed by the court. Their songs covered many topics, from knighthood and chivalry to the joys of feudal life, but the most prized by far was the canso—a love song.
