Audrey Nuna: Bravery

Audrey Nuna’s exclusive playlist for AAPI Heritage Month joyfully zigzags from REI AMI's sensual alt-hip-hop to Lucy Park’s hushed R&B to Peggy Gou’s sleek, shuffling, bilingual house music. “My intention was to curate excellence across all genres and backgrounds,” the New Jersey native tells Apple Music. “[This playlist] is a celebration of AAPI greatness, something that unifies, but also it’s such clear evidence of the diversity of our talents.” The Korean American singer and rapper particularly loves Maliibu Miitch’s gritty, husky voice on “Letter to My Ex” and Park Hye Jin’s “Let’s Sing Let’s Dance”, which makes her “want to dance in the rain with no shoes on”. Although these songs reflect the diverse backgrounds and cultural identities of the artists behind them, Nuna says the connective tissue is more universal: “They aren’t about being Asian. They’re about being human.”
