Vincenzo Zitello

About Vincenzo Zitello

A master of the Celtic harp, Vincenzo Zitello is known for his technical skill and imaginative playing. Although he initially studied flute and viola as a child, and formed the Magnet Chassis in 1974, he didn't find his natural musical voice until switching to the Celtic harp two years later. Together with Breton harper Alan Stivell, Zitello set the standard for Celtic vocal music during the '80s. Zitello's other work has embraced a diverse range of influences, including Latin American, Oriental, and sacred music. Accompanied by tabla player and percussionist Federico Sanesi, guitarist/bassist Franco Parravicini, and narrator Tawny Stori, Zitello has performed a musical history of the last years of philosopher/writer Walter Benjamin. ~ Craig Harris
