About The Heritage Orchestra

With fluttering bows and booming timpani, The Heritage Orchestra bridge the normally far-flung worlds of classical and dance music. Since their formation in 2004, the UK group has performed with the turntablist DJ Yoda, supported artists like SBTRKT and Spiritualized in concert and reinterpreted canonical electronic compositions by Aphex Twin and Amon Tobin, along with Vangelis’ Blade Runner score. The Heritage Orchestra’s most unexpected gig might be its repeated collaborations with UK DJ Pete Tong on 2016’s Classic House and the following year’s Pete Tong Ibiza Classics, in which vintage rave anthems (Moby’s “Go”, Moloko’s “Sing It Back”) and more recent floor-fillers (Rudimental’s “Feel the Love”, Swedish House Mafia’s “One”) are recreated with sweeping strings and woodwinds. Trading EDM’s glow stick for the symphony’s baton might seem unfathomable to most, but the massive sound summoned by the ensemble is forever faithful to the visceral spirit of the original material.
