Orchestra della Toscana

About Orchestra della Toscana

The Orchestra della Toscana, although young by European standards, is one of Italy's top regional orchestras, with a long record of collaboration with international-caliber artists. Based in Florence, the group has a large repertory ranging from the Baroque era to contemporary works. The Orchestra della Toscana was founded in 1980. The orchestra appeared on recordings as early as 1993, when it backed violinist Ruggiero Ricci on the album Portrait of an Artist, Vol. 2. In 2023, Diego Cerretta was named the principal conductor. That year, the group issued a pair of recordings, backing cellist Enrico Dindo in the Dvořák Cello Concerto in B minor and pianist Pietro de Maria in Chopin's Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2.
